Find Out About The Two Types Of Hemorrhoids And Other Related Info.

Types Of Hemroids

What are hemroids? Perhaps you’ve seen pictures of this condition on the web or n health magazines. If you have inflamed or swollen veins around your lower rectum or anus, then you might be suffering from a condition called hemorrhoids. This usually happens among people who strain when they are trying to move stool. However, there are still other factors that can contribute to this condition such as anal intercourse, aging, pregnancy, diarrhea, and constipation. The hemorrhoid can be internal or external.

How will you know if you have this condition? You have to watch out for symptoms like anorectal problems including abscesses, fistulae, fissures, itching, and irritation. This is not a life threatening condition and at times, the symptoms will vanish after several days. A lot of people these days suffer from this condition but not everyone can experience the symptoms. If you have internal hemorrhoid, you can find red blood in your stool or in the bowl. If you use toilet paper, it can also have blood stains. When the internal hemorrhoid protrudes outside the anus, it is called protruding hemorrhoid. At times, this condition can be painful and very irritating.

If you experience painful swelling or you can find a hard lump outside the anus, you might be suffering from external hemorrhoid. When blood clots form, this is called thrombosed external hemorrhoid. People who are the habit of cleaning, rubbing or excessive straining in the anus can cause itching, bleeding, and irritation that will lead to cyclic symptoms.

Men and women can suffer from hemorrhoids. According to studies half of the aging population, particularly over 50 years, are now suffering from this condition along with many pregnant women. The hemorrhoidal vessels tend to enlarge due to hormonal changes but after giving birth, most women recover from it.

Even if the condition is not dangerous, you still need to consult a doctor once you notice bleeding. Check your stool from time to time once you experience the symptoms. At times, bleeding can also mean that you have colorectal cancer or digestive diseases. A thorough examination is required for accurate diagnosis. The medical professional will examine the rectum and anus area for hemorrhoids. Rectal exams will also be carried out to check for any abnormalities. In the case of internal hemorrhoid, an anoscope will be used or a proctoscope so that the entire rectum can be evaluated. Other doctors also proceed with colonoscopy and Sigmoidoscopy to provide accurate diagnosis.

The treatments for this condition are aimed at controlling or relieving the symptoms. Among the treatments are tub baths for home, laser surgery, and the application of suppository or cream. Patients will also be advised to increase their fluid and fiber intake. By eliminating the strain, the hemorrhoids can be prevented.

For internal hemorrhoid, the doctor can prescribe Sclerotherapy, Infrared Coagulation, and Hemorrhoidectomy. Prevention is still better than cure so if you want to avoid this condition, you have to keep the stools soft. This will decrease straining and pressure in your anus. Aside from eating a healthy and fiber rich diet, you also need to exercise regularly. Live a healthy lifestyle and you can be free from this condition.
